Acts 5:17-26
Psalm 34:2-3, 4-5, 6-7, 8-9
John 3:16-21

“But during the night, the angel of the Lord opened the doors of the prison, led them, out, and said, “Go and take your place in the temple area and tell the people everything about this life.”

During Lent I used the KAIROS Project discs concerning the Gospel of Mark with reflections from Dennis Hamm, S.J, on “The Parables of Mark,” and Susan Calef on “The Gospel of Mark: Good News in Troubled Times.” Both professors teach in Creighton’s Theology Department.*

Both reflective programs readied me for Easter and our celebration of Jesus’ Resurrection…and what God was/is doing in Jesus.

But when I read Acts, Chapter 5, I wasn’t quite ready for reflection on the sentence, “Go and take your place in the temple area, and tell the people everything about this life.” As disciples of Jesus, the angel of the Lord is addressing us too. “Go and tell the people everything about this life.”

I won’t be going into a “temple” or preaching from a pulpit…..Probably neither will you. But by living a life filled with grace – through God’s action in us – we will be “telling the people everything about this life.”

Through our actions we will be telling people:

•The Lord has risen and His grace is within you.
•You are a temple of the Holy Spirit
•Because you are a child of God you are to be treated with dignity…no matter if you are not “perfect” – physically, emotionally, spiritually

We, as disciples of Jesus, are also supposed to be teaching by our words and actions that the Lord is risen and with us….Always.

Let us pray today:
Jesus, Lord, as your disciples we are always “teaching” something. Help us remember today that because of You we have new life and we have wonderful news to teach. Use us – by our words and actions -- to teach the “Good News” about “life” to those whom we will meet today.
