1 Corinthians 12:31-13:13
Psalm 33:2-3, 4-5, 12 and 22
Luke 7:31-35

Love is everything. Love is what motivates us and keeps us going and gives whatever we do that extra something special. Whatever we do, however technically proficient we may be, without love, it falls flat.

I love my job. I think I'm also pretty good at my job, but because I really love what I do, I think I do it that much better. I play a little guitar and sing sometimes. I'm particularly fond of Irish folk music. I know the notes and I know where to put my fingers on the fret board to make the chords, but I think the fact that I love the music and love to sing gives power and passion to my performance - whether I'm singing for an audience or just for myself.

Whatever we do, if we do it for some reason other than love, it doesn't mean anything. If we follow all the rules, give up everything we have, but for attention or to boast, it doesn't get us anywhere. And God so loved us He gave us His only son -- out of love alone.

Whatever we do purely out of duty or obligation or tradition has no real meaning. But whatever we do out of love can work miracles.
