Alex Rödlach

I am assistant professor in anthropology at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and have a secondary appointment as assistant professor in psychiatry.

I joined Creighton for the Fall semester 2007 and teach mainly courses in medical anthropology, which studies the relation of culture and health.

More about me:

I come from a small town in Tyrol, Austria. After high school I joined the Society of the Divine Word (SVD), a Catholic missionary congregation. After my ordination to the priesthood I worked for seven years as a missionary in Zimbabwe. Acknowledging the value of anthropology for missionary work I then went to study anthropology in Washington, DC, and Gainesville, FL. After graduating I worked as one of the editors of Anthropos in Germany.

In my free time I enjoy biking and hiking as well as reading novels based on historic events. I also enjoy watching comedies in TV or the movie theatre.

Writing these reflections:

Scriptures and my faith have guided me through my life. I would like to share some of my experiences hoping that it might help others to discover the relevance of God's Word for our day-to-day living.
