Susan Naatz

Associate Vice-president for University Ministry

More about me:

It is a joy to have the opportunity to contribute to the daily reflections offered through the Creighton Ministry website.

I began my work at Creighton on July 1, 2008.  I am the Associate Vice President for University Ministry and I am very blessed by my ministry here. Serving University Ministry has been a privilege.  Ignatian values and influence are the heart of the life of Creighton and both my professional work and my spiritual life have been enhanced because of the Jesuit spirit and presence which exists at Creighton.

Before coming to Creighton, I worked in Omaha Archdiocesan parish ministry for over twenty years as a Director of Religious Education,  Pastoral Minister and Pastoral Counselor.  Most recently, I have been very involved in co-founding and leading a Guatemala mission project in the Archdiocese of Omaha called Ixim:  Spirit of Solidarity. We have taken over 100 people to Guatemala since January, 2004.  Participants lives have been transformed through these mission experiences.

My family is the heart of my life. I am married to John Naatz, the Principal of Creighton Prep High School so I feel that I've been part of the Jesuit family for many years. We have three sons and two daughters in law.

I was born and raised in Omaha. I have seven siblings. Five of them live with their families in Omaha and three live out of town. We are all very close.

Writing these reflections:

I have had the privilege of facilitating many retreats and faith sharing groups throughout my years in parish ministry. Walking with people on their spiritual journey is truly one of the greatest professional gifts I have experienced. So having the opportunity to reflect on scripture and write daily reflections is exciting to me. I am looking forward to being a contributor to this outstanding Creighton website.
