Responsorial Psalm—The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.

It is early October, the beginning of Fall season in this mid-Western state of Nebraska in the U.S. The earth, literally, reminds us of the goodness.  There is a cacophony of color in tree leaves everywhere I look—yellow, orange, red, rust, green, and all shades in between.  On some days the sun magnifies and glistens the colors.  On other days, I walk briskly and delight in the colder wind touching my face.

Responsorial Psalm—The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.

I have gratitude for the gift of sight—so that I enjoy this daily symphony of colors, free for my taking and enjoyment.  I have gratitude for the gift of hearing—so that I hear the wind and the leaves falling.  I have gratitude for the gift of feeling—so that I feel the colder wind on my face.  I have gratitude for friends and  technology tools that aid those without sight, hearing, and touch to also know of the Fall beauty of color and weather change in other ways.

Responsorial Psalm—The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.

Fall is my favorite season.  It is a time to be quiet, to reflect, and to consider the harvest in our lives.  I grew up on a farm in eastern Iowa so I still carry within my core the reality of an agricultural harvest season; it is more than metaphor to me.  But, it is also metaphor.  Fall can be a time to evaluate the harvest of our lives.

Responsorial Psalm—The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.
