Keith Ignatius Kozak

Liturgy Coordinator, Campus Ministry & St. John’s Parish since 2014

More about me:

Liturgy has always been a passion of mine — Good liturgy — the kind that not only follows the rubrics, but one where God’s presence is truly felt and embodied.  For me, this is where my faith and religion meets my Ignatian spirituality.

Immediately prior to coming to Creighton, I spent four years in the Society of Jesus.

The story of my vocation is still developing and constantly being written and revised on my heart and soul.  When I was 5 years old, I looked up at the altar and pointed at the priest and said, “that is what I want to do when I grow up.”  I always assumed that I would enter the Jesuits, but like many paths in our lives, God has a master plan that didn’t match what I had in mind for myself.

I was born and raised in Cleveland OH and had my initial encounter with the Jesuits at St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland. I received a Bachelor of Music from The Catholic University of America in both general/choral and instrumental music education. Then I went to North Carolina State University where I studied Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, and received a Master of Education.

I couldn’t be happier. I have followed my call and now know God wants me to be a liturgist, at least for now.  I plan and implement all the Masses and liturgical movements of the St. John’s Church and Creighton University communities.  I love encouraging people to be ministers and to share their faith with others.

Writing these reflections:

I truly enjoy writing these reflections because it allows me to take the Word and apply it to my daily life, and to help others to explore ways they can apply it to theirs.  My reflections are just that… reflections… things that allow me to pause for a moment, reflect on God in my life, and to be grateful to our Lord for speaking to me and giving me consolation.  I hope my words allow you to see things in a new way.
