A Parent Reflects on Joseph & Mary

In the first part of Advent, the focus is on the first reading, and gospels are chosen in relation to it. As we prepare to celebrate the coming of Christ, this first reading tells us how different things will be as God becomes incarnate.

God’s ultimate act of love for us as humans was becoming human through Jesus. God’s love is so great, that it disrupts what we view as natural order - wolves and sheep, calves and lions, and cows and bears become friends in this new world order.

This time of year reminds us that we need to make sure there is room in our hearts for Jesus to be welcomed in. This room requires a willingness for things to be moved around, the order to be reconfigured.

How do I need to make room in my heart now? How can I continue to foster a willingness to allow my order to be disrupted by the love of God?
