Colleen Chiacchere

Assistant Director,  Magis Catholic Teacher Corps

More about me:

Most of my time at Creighton is spent supporting new Catholic school teachers who are graduate students here in Creighton’s Education Department as participants in Magis Catholic Teacher Corps.  My job is a combination of several of my passions – mentoring, Ignatian Spirituality, community, education, simplicity and problem solving.  I also have the privilege of visiting a lot of different elementary and high schools in the region, which is great fun! Prior to coming to Creighton full time in 2009, I attended Fordham University and Loyola University Chicago, and also taught kindergarten on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota and in southwest Chicago.  I’m a New Yorker (born and raised) though the Midwest has become home over the last 15 years.

When I’m not working, you can usually find me spending time with my family – my husband Jonathan, daughter Ignacia Grace (named after St Ignatius), son Xavier Arrupe (named after St. Francis Xavier and Fr. Pedro Arrupe, SJ) and dog Daisy.  I enjoy gardening, baking, spending time with the community at St. John’s Parish here at Creighton, keeping up with friends and visiting extended family members back in New York City.

Writing these reflections:

I am new to writing reflections and I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to reflect on the readings and share my heart’s stirrings with you.
