How often
will I write?
Daily Reflection writers
will be asked via e-mail every three months how often they would like to
write. Or, you can sign up for a "monthly" spot, which means every
four to six weeks.
When am
I scheduled to write?
Four times a year schedules
are sent out for the next three months. The Collaborative Ministry
Office will notify you of your upcoming dates and the deadlines.
Want to double-check the immediate schedule? Look at the Daily
Reflection calendar for the most up-to-date information.
What's
the deadline?
Reflections are due
Tuesday at noon the week before your reflection date. We will proof,
format and upload all reflections on Tuesday afternoon.
Please let us know as
soon as possible if you can't meet that deadline and we can make arrangements
to have it written.
What's
the "Daily Reflection" style?
On of the strengths
of this website is the variety of styles of more than 50 contributors.
Our style leans toward the informal and inclusive: "We" is better than
"you" -- as in "our struggles with sin" instead of "your
struggles with sin."
What to
Write?
The most effective reflections
are not theological commentaries on the scriptures, but pastoral - coming
out of your own personal prayer on the scriptures, how they touch you,
and how your reflection might be a source of encouragement, hope, challenge,
grace.
What is
the length?
Most Daily Reflections
run between 400 and 600 words -- 4 or 5 paragraphs.
Where can
I find the readings?
What about
feast days, memorials etc.?
How do
I turn in my reflection?
Do I need
to format it?
No. It all has
to be pasted into hypertext markup language (html) for the internet, so
all formatting has to be removed before it can be put into the web page.
- Please, don't TAB to
indent.
- Place a hard return
at the end of each paragraph.
- Use a standard variable
width font. The fixed Courier fonts don't translate as well and we
have to re-do much of the punctuation.
I still
have questions - who do I contact?
If you have a question

A special
note for New Writers:
Many thanks
for offering to do a Daily Reflection. We have scheduled you for
a reflection for Monday, October 1. It will be due in our office
by noon on Tuesday, September 25. I will include details of format
etc. below in case you need them.
September
25 is the Memorial of Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus (The Little Flower).
You can write only about the scripture readings for the day as indicated
in the links below, but if you would like to include a story or or mention
of St. Theresa in your reflection, you would be welcome to do that.
One thing
you might want to be aware of is our biography which we have linked to
each writer's reflection. It's just a simple biographical sketch
which you can submit to us online by going to: http://www.creighton.edu/CollaborativeMinistry/daily-form.html
That information
will come to me as an e-mail and I'll drop it into a format. If you
are up in the administration building some time, stop by Room 110 (across
from the business office) and we'll take a digital photo of you to use
in the bio.
