Who can apply?
Junior faculty members, who have completed their three year reviews can apply from:

  • College of Arts & Sciences
  • College of Business
  • School of Nursing

This 18-month pilot program is focused on undergraduate faculty with one Fellowship pair chosen from the School of Nursing, one from the College of Business and a few more from the College of Arts and Sciences. In future years, the program will be expanded to other graduate-level Schools.

How will Junior Mission Fellows be chosen?
In September, letters of application are sent to the dean, articulating your interest in the mission and your interest in this program for personal and professional development.  Also indicate any initial thoughts you might have about how you would use Creighton’s mission to improve a course or imagine some intellectual contribution you might make to your discipline. These are general ideas about how to improve your course and/or write an article or other intellectual contribution. You and your Senior Mentor will work on final ideas together.

How will Senior Mentors be chosen?
Your dean will have a list of faculty who are willing to serve as Senior Mission Fellows. When those chosen for the Faculty Mission Fellowship meet with their deans, they will discuss that partnership.

How Does the Fellowship Work?
Each junior/senior faculty partnership will agree as part of the Fellowship to three things:
1)  Read and discuss a series of readings about the Catholic, Jesuit/Ignatian roots of the mission and identity of Creighton;
2)  Add a mission component to a course in the junior faculty member’s field
3)  Create an intellectual contribution in the discipline consistent with the mission, as approved by the dean

What is the Fellowship Grant?
A grant of $600 will be given to each Fellow and Mentor. The grant funds may be either deposited in a Creighton account for classroom/professional use, or converted to a check for Special Pay (note: Special Pay is income, so taxes will be deducted).
