Please remember in your prayers Mike Willey's niece, Kate Italia her husband Nick and their families. (Mike works in Shuttle Services.)

On Monday evening July 20, Kate delivered a beautiful 4lb 14 oz little girl named Lily Kate Italia.
This is Kate and Nick's first child and Lily is a beautiful healthy little girl.

As Kate was delivering her baby, Kate had a stroke. She required 4 hours in surgery and was in a coma and paralyzed on the left side.

As of today Kate is making some positive progress:

  • Her pupils are responding to light.
  • She squeezed a nurses finger the first morning after the surgery.
  • She had movement with her right arm and leg but has to be restrained as she tries to pull her respirator out.
  • Kate responded to the doctor and held out 1 finger then 2 on command.
  • The nurse unrestrained Kate's hand and Kate reached up and rubbed her nose and eyebrow as if to relieve an itch.
  • Her left hand was curling in from the paralysis and is now straightening out.
  • A nurse was taking blood out of her left hand and she reacted to the needle stick.

These are all little steps and the doctors have said they are amazed at her progress.
I am sure that all of the prayer directed to Kate's recovery has contributed to her progress.
She has a lot to live for; Kate is young and very loved and has a new baby girl.
Kate is fighting as hard as she can and with prayer and love her chances of recovery are greatly enhanced.
