"What profit is there for one to gain the whole world yet lose or forfeit himself?" - Luke 9:25

This is one of my favorite Gospel readings, especially because of the question Jesus poses. I think this is a good question to ask ourselves to help us evaluate what we value in our lives. One of the biggest things I value is the relationship I have with God. I can’t think of anything worth jeopardizing this relationship with him. Life gives us many chances to throw away our values in order to fit in with a group or to make life easier, but in the end would it be worth it?

During this Lenten season I am going to do my best to continue to strengthen my relationship with God. Lent is a good time to make time for God and to allow him into our lives. God will help us carry our crosses, no matter how big or small they may be. God will never abandoned us which is something we should be so thankful for! Through all the suffering we will endure throughout our lives it is comforting to know that God is with us through it all.

During Lent we should try take up our cross and follow Jesus, knowing that he is walking with us through it all!
