As another school year ends, I am reminded of how quickly time flies and how fast things can change in this unpredictable world in which we live.  When I think back to where I was one year ago, I am shocked by all of the things that have changed in such a short amount of time.  Life has been good and I am blessed but this year was also one of trials, fears, and worries.  When life is uncertain, it’s comforting to know that I’m not alone.
           
In today’s Gospel reading, Jesus is comforting his disciples about what is going to happen when he leaves them.  These verses are very comforting when I don’t know what to expect from this life.  I am reminded that this world is temporary and only a glimpse of what is to come—Jesus is with the Father and he is preparing a place for me.  There is a spot in heaven for each of us and God is just waiting for us to come home.  All we have to do is trust in him and in his Son and we are guaranteed an eternity with no trials, no fears, and no worries.  So, today, let us each take a moment to reread the Gospel passage and remember just how much our Father loves us.
