Today’s reading from Genesis is one that we are all rather familiar with. On this particular occasion the following verse grabbed my attention. “The Lord God formed man out of the clay of the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and so man became a living being.” It made me question how, in all of the times that I have heard the passage, I have not really listened to it and incorporated it into my daily life. God formed us from the earth and breathed life into us. Wow! I feel that considering this idea each day, I would face life with more energy and a renewed attitude. Perhaps we should allow this to be a challenge to each of us, especially at the start of this new year. When we are feeling down, out of energy, or like we are dragging, let us recall all that God has given us. Perhaps we can allow this new mentality, energy, and outlook to be with in us. In doing so we will be able continue living and enjoying the life which we are called to live.
