God as our parent has tremendous care for us. God loves us so much that God sent His son, to die for our well being. In today’s Gospel, Mary Magdalene understands the tremendous gift that God gave to humanity. Now that Jesus is gone, she realizes how much of a sacrifice God made and Jesus made in order that she may receive eternal life. However, she also feels that her eternal life died with Jesus on Good Friday. When Jesus comes to her side, he presents a message of hope that we can not only relate to but also in which we can find joy and comfort.

Jesus says that he will always be with us, no longer in a human body, but in the body of creation and humanity. While Mary struggled with the unknown location of Jesus’ physical body, so too do we struggle when we think that Jesus is not with us. It is as if we are trying to get a hold of a friend when we are in need – we can call them at home, on their cell phone, send them an email and we just cannot find where they are. It is very frustrating when, in a moment of gladness or sadness, we need a friend and the line is busy or they are out of town. In these emotional times when we are looking for Jesus we tend to have the same anxieties – “where is Jesus, I need him?” “why won't he answer my calls?”.

In response to these frustrating moments, Jesus calmly says “don’t worry, I am here…you just may find not find me where you thought I was. But I am here, with you.” Maybe we usually find Jesus at Mass, in the Eucharist – but in certain times of need he will also be present in a conversation with a friend, a meal with family, or a small gesture by a stranger. In the Gospel today, Jesus tells Mary that he is in all things. We must learn to have the perception to find his presence in these places.
