Colleen Chiacchere

Director,  Magis Catholic Teacher Corps

More about me:

Being part of the Creighton community is a joy and a privilege.  Most of my time professionally is spent supporting new Catholic school teachers who are graduate students here in Creighton’s Education Department as participants in Magis Catholic Teacher Corps.  I work with some of the most talented and faith-filled graduate students, who serve as Catholic school educators in various parts of the country as part of their graduate studies here. I also have the privilege of visiting a lot of different elementary and high schools, which is great fun! Prior to coming to Creighton full time in 2009, I attended Fordham University and Loyola University Chicago, and also taught kindergarten on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota and in southwest Chicago.

When I’m not working, you can usually find me spending time with my family – my husband Jonathan and young children who are named after a few favorite saints and Jesuits (daughter Ignacia Grace, sons Xavier Arrupe and Diego Faber).  I enjoy gardening, trying new recipes, spending time with the community at St. John’s Parish here at Creighton, keeping up with friends and family across the country.

Writing these reflections:

This ministry is one that is challenging and fulfilling for me.  Having the chance to reflect for others also affords me a beautiful chance to learn more from the readings.  I’m very grateful to have this opportunity and I continue to be inspired by the faith of all the readers of these reflections across the globe!
