Theresa Abbott

Physician Assistant, Center for Health and Counseling

More about me:

I have been married to my husband Brian for about 30 years. We have 4 beautiful children. What grace filled moments we have had in watching them grow and develop into the person God calls them to be.

I graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center with a Masters degree in Physician Assistant studies. I have had the opportunity to be a part of a wellness team at the Center for Health and Counseling and manage the health care needs of our students here at Creighton University since 2000.  In my interaction with students, I can move beyond the medical chart to provide compassionate faith based holistic health care services.

Modeling a healthy lifestyle is important to me. I enjoy running, yoga, bicycling, cooking and reading.
As a volunteer with Midlands Pet Therapy, I am able to share my dog Charlie with those I meet in the hospitals, schools, and nursing homes, bringing smiles and joy to others.

I am also a part of the hospital and nursing home ministries at St. Leo church. I am able to reach out to Catholics who wish to receive the Eucharist or sometimes I just offer a prayer and silent reflection. I am humbled by this experience and graced with God’s gift of love with each and every interaction.

Writing these reflections:

Recently I have been pondering God’s will for me in this season of my life.  An invitation to write a Daily Reflection was not only exciting but timely.  I look forward to seeing how God might use me as an “instrument of inspiration” in this ministry. I love sharing my faith with others. I may be the holder of the pencil, but God is the author who places the words on paper.
