George Butterfield

Legal Reference Librarian
Creighton School of Law Library

More about me:

I am the Legal Reference Librarian at the Law Library and have been here since August of 2007. After living in north Texas for the last few years, Nebraska weather comes as a relief. This is a beautiful place to live and my family and I have enjoyed exploring the state.

My wife, Deb, and I have been married since 1970. She grew up in Oklahoma City and I migrated south from southwestern Pennsylvania. God has blessed us with three children and three grandchildren. I spent the first thirty years of our marriage as a minister so our family moved a lot. We have lived in several states, including Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, and California. We tend to enjoy wherever we happen to be at the time.

I enjoy walking, reading, playing with my two Pekingnese, and seeing my grandkids grow up. I am a much better grandparent than I ever was a parent. Deb and I spend Tuesday evenings and third Saturdays attending events in the diaconate program here in the Archdiocese where I am in my second year of training to become a permanent deacon. We are parishioners at St. Gerald in Ralston.
Writing these reflections:

There is nothing to compare with reflecting on scripture. I feel privileged to participate in these daily reflections and hope to contribute in my own small way to our efforts here at Creighton. Although we don’t know whether or not St. Francis ever said it, one idea associated with him is that we preach the gospel always and, when necessary, use words. May these reflections be gospel words, good news, of our gracious Lord Jesus Christ.
