President of Creighton University |

More about me:
I am a native of Mason City, Iowa. I attended Creighton University as an undergraduate, where I served as student body president. Years later, I returned to Omaha as President of Creighton Preparatory School. Once again I have made my way back to Omaha, this time to become the 24th President of Creighton University. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to give something back to my alma mater as its President. Creighton changed my life. It was there that I came to know the Society of Jesus and the wonderful work that these remarkable men have accomplished throughout the centuries. This led to my Jesuit vocation. I entered the Society of Jesus in 1977 and was ordained a priest in 1986. In fact, my ordination took place at St. John’s Church on Creighton’s campus. |

Writing these reflections:
Being a priest is central to my belief of the role of a president in promoting the Catholic and Jesuit identity of a university. Writing a daily reflection will take me out of the administrative function for a time and allow me to focus on what we all need to think about as we strive to become better men and women with and for others. My hope is that my writings will help to support spiritually some of the many worldwide visitors to this site. |
