A Topic at the 35th General Congregation

Jesuit Community Life

It has been suggested that the Congregation address community life in depth. There has been much progress in the Society, since this topic was addressed so thoroughly in G.C. 31, in 1965 and 1966.

At the same time, there are many challeges to the common life today. Individualism, lack of leadership, the challenge of identity and mission as these relate to community life, and the pervasive question of lifestyle and the gap between Jesuit lifestyle and families of slender means in our world.

How can Jesuit Community Life become explicity and clearly for mission?

What kind of interaction and patterns of living should characterize Jesuit Community Life today?

How does Jesuit Community lifestyle reflect a special care for the poor and the Society's commitment to Ecology?
