From a Creighton Student's Perspective

Say to those whose hearts are frightened: Be strong, fear not! - Is 35:4-7a

When I think about everything I have gone through in my life, I think how easily I could give up my faith.  I think about what tests I have been given and how I have reacted to those tests.  I wonder if I handled bad situations to the best of my ability.  When you sit down and think about the tests that you have been given, do you think you have handled them to the best of your ability; being strong, patient, and faithful to the end of each test?

As soon as we feel weak in faith or we think that God has abandoned us, we must think again.  Personally, I have had 4 surgeries on my knee this summer and 8 total in my lifetime.  My faith has been tested over and over again because I wonder when the surgeries will end.  Everyone has their cross to bear and God never gives us more than we can handle.  There is always something worse that could be happening.  Faith in a bright future and confidence that we can handle any test that we receive leads to greatness.  I thank God that the rest of my body is healthy and that I have been blessed with such amazing friends and family to get through a rough situation.

This reading tells us that we are not alone.  Everyone has struggles that they are going through and we must work together as a people to keep each other motivated to get through tough times.  God is always there for us and in the end he will still be there for us.  Give thanks and believe.

God bless.
