[431] 1 Thess 4:13-18
Ps 96:1+3, 4-5, 11-12, 13
Luke 4:16-30.

Happy Monday! Sometimes, Mondays can be really rough. You just got done with a great weekend, you wish you could get more sleep, you have a long week ahead of you: the list goes on and on. Hopefully, though, maybe Mondays are sometimes a good thing. A fresh start, a new beginning, a chance to work hard and do your best. If we choose to approach Monday with a positive attitude, knowing that the Lord is with us every step of the way, it will make a huge difference in our day.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus says, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor.” (Lk 4:21) The Spirit of the Lord is upon us as well! We have also been anointed to bring glad tidings to the poor. In this situation, poor could mean anything from economically poor to spiritually poor. By living our lives in the way Christ intended, we are living them to the fullest. In the 10th chapter of John, verse 10, Jesus says, “I have come that they might have life, and have it to the fullest.” If we can determine how Christ wants us to “bring glad tidings” to everyone we meet, we will be truly happy and fulfilled. This could be actually preaching the Gospel with words, living with a good example, or simply sharing a smile with someone who needs it. Today, I pray that we are able to love one another and show Christ’s love to everyone we meet, even though it is Monday.
