All three of today’s readings can be summarized in three words: He is faithful. What a profound promise!
How quick are we to forget of God’s faithfulness to us? This season of Advent is my favorite part of the liturgical year. Here we are, in the darkness of the winter, waiting for a light to come.
We are asked to wait and to trust. Waiting for the light to come can be especially trying when we find ourselves in places of loneliness, hurt, and doubt. These readings become such a comfort to our suffering in the darkness, and they remind us God’s unfailing faithfulness, while also challenging us to always sing of the goodness of the Lord.
