"I was afraid, because I was naked, so I hid myself" Genesis 3:10

How often do we too hide ourselves from God? In our shame, we avoid him and try to cover the embarrassment of our sins. But why do we hide? Don’t we know that God has already seen this sin? For Christ is with us always. He knows our every thought, word, and action. So coming before him in spite of the weakness of our humanness is humbling. This humility helps us relate with Adam and Eve.

The temptations of the world often get the best of us like the serpent in the garden that tempted them. This is not the end of the story however. The beauty is that the grace and mercy of our Lord cleanses us of this sin because he desires to spend eternity with us. Flawed as we are, he wants to perfect us so that we might live in his presence forever. So let us come this advent season, naked and afraid, to our Lord so that his cleansing, mercy, and forgiveness which surpass all understanding may create us anew.
