When we are asked about our faith by those around us, maybe we reply with phrases that involve an omnipotent and all-knowing God. God is almighty, omnipresent, and everlasting. He is love, and love is God. He sent his one and only son so that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. Sound familiar? It takes many hurt and broken moments in our lives to know that He wants a very personal relationship. The creator of the universe and of all things wants a relationship with us?? Now that is just outrageous, right?

Well, we see that Christ called Simon and Andrew, who were lowly fishermen, followers of an occupation that did not receive a whole lot of attention or encouragement. Yet Christ, the perfect teacher, called on two fishermen to become “fishers of men.”

In the same way, let today be a reminder that though God may sometimes feel like an idea, someone who feels so far away and so powerful, He wants to be with us. He wants us to have a wonderful relationship with Him and wants us to discover our true potential as servants of Christ. Do not be discouraged, wherever you are, because no matter what you do or who you are, you have already been given the most prestigious gift that any human being can receive: God’s love and grace with no price tag! Let today be an encouragement and a reminder that you are so loved by the creator of the universe, and that He does have a special plan for you!
