[249] Jer 11:18-20
Ps 7:2-3, 9bc-10, 11-12
John 7:40-53

We all need to be taken care of at times in our lives.  We like to think we can stand on our own without other people to help us, but every now and then we all just need our burdens to be carried by someone else, even if only for a little while.  God cares for and looks after us, and wants to help bear our burdens.  He also calls us to care for others, and to be Christ to others.

Every day, I ask myself, what have I done today that has shown God’s love to another person?  It doesn’t have to be anything huge; sometimes the littlest things in life mean the most.  A smile and a wave can brighten someone’s day, or sometimes, something as simple as a genuine “How are you doing today?”  We are called to act as Jesus did, even in the face of opposition from those who judge us.  This means caring and looking out for the people around us.  I’m lucky enough to have many people in my life willing to lend a hand when I need it, and there are many people who know they can come to me if they need anything.  Every day I strive to show them Christ’s love through my actions, and I think it’s a good Lenten goal for all of us to go out of our way a bit to show someone else God’s love.
