[555] 1 Peter 5:5b-14
Ps 89:2-3, 6-7, 16-17
Mark 16:15-20

The readings from today are some of my all-time favorites. In the first reading, we have some words that remind us of the importance of being humble. Following this reminder comes one of my favorite Bible verses: “Cast all your worries upon him, because he cares for you.” This quote is a great one to meditate on throughout this day. Inevitably, we all will come across some difficulties and troubles during the day, but I encourage you to call to mind this quote, and remember that God truly does care for you. Everything happens for a reason, even if we don’t discover the reason until long past the event. We are merely humans, which means we can only see in human time, but God, who is outside of time, can see the whole plan for our lives. Trust God that whatever happens to you, stresses you out, or gives you joy, comes from God, and his plan is bigger and better than anything you can think of.

The Gospel for today is also one of my favorite readings, because it describes the time that Jesus gave his apostles the mission of the church. Our mission, given to us by Christ, is to “Go out into the world, and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.” There are tons of ways that we can do this, but perhaps the easiest is simply to live as Christ would live. We can proclaim the Gospel by actually proclaiming it, or by living a life of love. You are all in my prayers today, as I pray that you will be able to truly live out our mission from Christ.
