“We receive from him whatever we ask, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.”

There are many instances in my life where I find myself taking a step back to think over something that I have done or something that I plan to do. A lot of the time, the thoughts that run through my head include thoughts like “what would happen if I don’t ask permission?” Or “what will be the consequences if….?” As humans, we are not all perfect and we do make mistakes. However, we must be mindful about our words and actions and constantly ask ourselves, “what would Jesus do?”.

Today’s reading addresses this idea of doing good to receive gifts from God. By acting in the way of Christ, we are fulfilling our duty to God’s kingdom. In return, God will grant us our wishes. By making the decision to ask before borrowing something, or thinking before we express our frustration to someone, think about what God would want us to do in order to preach the good news and act in the way of the Lord.
