Today is a beautiful day. Today two friends of mine, Katie and Chris, will be joined together in marriage as partners for the Lord. These two have exemplified today’s first reading to the absolute fullest and I can’t think of any reading more fitting to celebrate them. They have “testified to [God’s] love before the Church” and even to strangers. They “have set out for the sake of the Name,” bringing glory to God in all that they do. Today I pray this first reading for them in thanksgiving of their witness for Christ.

But I also pray this reading in celebration of all of us striving to witness to our faith in a deeper way. Because many days it feels like an uphill battle against sickness, stress, busyness, and frustration, sometimes I really struggle to see how I could possibly be testifying to God. I recognize, however, that I am still called to be faithful in all I do and continue on my faith journey regardless of what’s got me down. In the midst of today’s setbacks let us remember to support one another in our faith journeys so that, together, we all “may be co-workers in the truth.”

Peace be with you!
