Good day brothers and sisters. How often are we called to try something new? Did we feel happy or scared? Many times we are apprehensive to trying new things, especially when they are life changing. I know for me personally I am not a spontaneous type of person. I like spending the time really analyzing situations in order to create the best overall outcome. Yet, I know that there are time I cannot wait to decide , and a decision is needed now.
Well brothers and sisters, the gospel today discusses this issue.

Here is the passage from today’s reading:

Gospel Mt 4:18-22
As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers,
Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew,
casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen.
He said to them,
"Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men."
At once they left their nets and followed him.
He walked along from there and saw two other brothers,
James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John.
They were in a boat, with their father Zebedee, mending their nets.
He called them, and immediately they left their boat and their father
and followed him.

If I could highlight this, I would highlight the “Come after me”. Come after me. This is a passage where Jesus is calling the people he wants to be leaders of his church. While Jesus is not physically calling us today to come and walk with him, he still calls us every day in a multitude of ways to be vicars of his church. It can be tough to decide to follow him; especially since we as people are so determined in our ways. We want to have things our way because we think we know what is best for us. But the truth is, we don’t know what is 100% right for us no matter what. Only, God knows what we should do. He gave us free will because he loves us and wants us to find out what is right; and when we choose wrong he helps to steer us on the right path again. In conclusion, if you hear the voice of God calling during this Christmas season, answer him and follow him…because God is the only driver you can trust with your life.
