I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work in you will continue to complete it until the day of Christ Jesus. -Philippians 1:6

God has created us in his own image and likeness. We each have a special purpose, in which he works through us. Sometimes he works through us in ways we would not prefer, such as a tough time in our lives which makes us appreciate more fully the blessings we have been given. In the end, we are left with this special purpose, this mission which God has entrusted us to fulfill.

This verse from today's Second Reading struck me as true, but in a way frightening. Finishing the work God has created in us may require us to distance ourselves from things immoral things. We may be forced to give up things we enjoy to complete the mission God has set for us.

It is up to us to take on the challenge of finishing the work God has begun in us. The mission is there, we simply must be open to it and have the determination to pursue it.
