An Easter Blessing

Easter Joy in Everyday Life

The last two months has taken me from Lent to the Triduum to Easter Sunday. I was quite pleased to see the resurrection story once again proclaimed in the daily readings. Holy Week was again moving and impactful. Hearing the hymn “Jesus Christ is Risen Today” on Easter once again brought me to near tears. Re-reading the Gospel today brings me once again to Easter Sunday a few days ago. Over the years I’ve always been in awe by the power of Christ’s resurrection. The Gospel reading has provided me once again the opportunity to reflect on what Christ accomplished on the cross for my salvation.

The highlight of the whole Lenten Season and Holy Week was sponsoring someone into the Church through RCIA. The reading from Acts took on more meaning and has become more impactful to me. Over the years most attempts I’ve had at evangelizing have fallen short. My surprise this year was that the gentleman who converted has been asking questions and seeking understanding for over 10 years. Seeds have been planted along the way and came to fruition. Just as the seeds planted in the early Church as related in the Acts of the Apostle’s so too must I continue help make disciples whenever possible. This has been a valuable reinforcement to never stop evangelizing and leave the rest to the Holy Spirit.
