Boston College
José María Tojeira, S.J., was the provincial of the Society of Jesus' Central American Province during the 1989 assassination of six Jesuit priests and their two domestic staff members at the hands of the Salvadoran Army's Atlacatl Battalion. His lecture addresses the assassinations and the investigation of the murderers.

Jon Sobrino, SJ, has spent most of his adult life in El Salvador teaching at the University of Central America, a Jesuit institution that he helped found. In this lecture he discusses the "inspiration of Christianity on the university."

Robert White, president of the Center for International Policy and former U.S. ambassador to El Salvador and Paraguay, gives the keynote speech for a symposium commemorating those assassinations and discussing current human rights issues. He speaks of his experience as ambassador to El Salvador in the 1980s, and the conflicts between the embassy and State Department that ultimately led to his leaving the foreign service.

Rev. Mark Ravizza, SJ gave a talk on the murders at Fordham University's University Church on October 29, 2009. It is available on YouTube.


Saint Louis University

Saint Louis University is designating the 2009-2010 academic year as the year of the martyrs. There will multiple events throughout the year commemorating not just the martyrs killed in El Salvador but martyrs around the world.
