Finding Hope in the Easter Season

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

In today’s gospel, Jesus is explaining what the world can be like.  He understands that he is asking us to face hate and hostility when we choose to love and follow him.
As I reflect on this gospel, it’s ironic that I had a very recent encounter with hate directed at me and others who choose to have faith and follow Jesus Christ.

I live in Omaha, Nebraska in the Unites States.  On Friday April 26, 2024, my city was hit by devastating tornadoes.  I know people who have lost everything!  Fortunately, no lives were lost in Omaha and those injured sustained minor injuries.  It’s been incredible to witness my community show great love and care for each other in time of crisis.  I’m confident that the heavens have been flooded with prayers of gratitude in this midst of tragedy.

This is a time when the faith of some might waiver.  I learned of a situation that occurred about three miles directly west of my home.  It strengthened my faith during a very scary time and so I shared it with many friends and concerned out of town family.  This was widely shared by a local news station.  While there were many positive comments and gratitude for telling this powerful story, there were many hateful comments made on social media questioning God and belittling those who believe that a miracle occurred amid a dark time.

Please take a few minutes to hear this story and I’ll let you decide:
